I like surrounding myself with houseplants because the daily watering and trimming gives me a sense of calm and rhythm. My living room also holds crystals and minerals I’ve collected over the years—their shapes and textures remind me how much beauty lives in simple things. In the evenings I listen to podcasts while the aquarium bubbles in the background; I set it up a few years ago and keep adding new fish species. I’m learning languages so that during culinary trips I can order straight from locals and find out where a recipe truly comes from. I’m someone who quickly senses another person’s mood and values quiet more than loud entertainment.
